What's on clearance
Any slab we stock can go to clearance: granite, quartzite, marble, dolomite, travertine, limestone, onyx, schist, soapstone, MARS Quartz and porcelain slabs. Stock changes as slabs sell — the clearance list shows what is available now.
Why these slabs are on clearance
Orphan slabs
Natural stone comes out of the quarry in blocks, and each block is cut into slabs in sequence. Fabricators buy slabs from one block so that a project matches. When one or two slabs are left from a block and the next shipment of the same stone comes from a different block, those last slabs no longer match it. We call them orphan slabs. Same stone, same quality — just the end of a block.
End of a production lot
MARS Quartz and porcelain slabs are made in production lots, and colour can shift slightly from one lot to the next. When a lot is down to its last one or two slabs, they go to clearance for the same reason.
Other reasons
Slabs also go to clearance when a design is discontinued, when we are overstocked, or when the protective film came off or a slab was marked during transport or unloading.
Clearance slabs that work like remnants
Need a smaller piece? A slab with a crack or a surface flaw is sold whole, but priced on the area you can actually use. For a vanity, a fireplace surround or a small island, that works out like buying a remnant — and you take the full slab.
What clearance slabs are used for
Each listing shows the slab's size, thickness, finish and square footage, so your fabricator can check the fit before you buy.
Good to know

- Selecting or sharing a slab does not reserve it. Availability is confirmed when your order is accepted.
- Check the slab's size against your layout. A larger slab can mean fewer seams.
- Clearance stock changes quickly, so confirm availability before you plan around one slab.
- Prices are in CAD per square foot or per piece, FOB our warehouse. Taxes and delivery are extra.

Questions
Where can I buy clearance slabs in Mississauga?
At Hilltop Surfaces, 5150 Timberlea Blvd, Mississauga. Trade account holders browse the clearance list online, then pick up at the warehouse or arrange delivery.
How much do clearance slabs cost?
It depends on the slab. Prices are in CAD per square foot or per piece, FOB our warehouse, and trade account holders see them after signing in. Homeowners get pricing through their fabricator, designer or architect.
Can homeowners buy clearance slabs?
Not directly. Hilltop sells to the trade, so homeowners buy through their fabricator, designer or architect. You can shortlist slabs on the clearance list and share them with your fabricator.
Are clearance slabs defective?
Most are not. They are the last slabs from a block or production lot, discontinued designs or overstock. Occasionally a slab has a flaw such as a crack or a pit, and it is priced on its usable area. You can inspect any slab before it ships.
What's the difference between clearance slabs and remnants?
Remnants are cut pieces left over from fabrication. Our clearance slabs are full slabs. A slab with a crack or a surface flaw is priced on its usable area, so it can cost about what a remnant would, and you take the full slab.
Can I use a clearance slab for a kitchen countertop?
Yes, if its size suits your layout. Each listing shows exact dimensions and square footage. Orphan slabs are often single, so if your kitchen needs several matching slabs, check that the list has enough from the same block or lot.
How big is a clearance slab?
Natural stone slabs vary, and each listing gives the exact size. MARS Quartz and porcelain slabs come in the product's standard size.
How often is the clearance list updated?
Whenever slabs go to clearance. New slabs are added as they come in, and each listing shows whether a slab is still available.
Is a slab reserved when I select it?
No. Availability is confirmed when your order is accepted.
Can I return a clearance slab?
No. Clearance slabs are final sale, which is why you can inspect the slab at our warehouse before it ships.
